March 17, 2013

I've been a volunteer for the Boise Police Department for about 4 months now, and it's something that I really enjoy doing. On Sunday's, I cover about 15 miles of trails along both sides of the Boise River Greenbelt. There are path's on both sides of river.

Some of the paths do not allow bikes, and there are parts where one side of the river is in the City of
Boise and the other side of the river is in Garden City. (We do not patroll the section of the bike path that is in Garden City.

Lately, I've been using one of the three gas powered carts (like golf carts) to do my patroll. On warmer days, I'll ride one of the nice mountain bikes that are available.

It was cool today, yet sunny. At one point, for about 30 seconds or so, it was snowing, if you can believe that!

Both of these shots were taken from the same spot ... one looking towards the East (up-river) and the other looking towards the Northwest (down-river).

I took both of these shots with my Samsung Cellphone, which also happens to be the camera that I usually have with me when I want to take a picture.

After work today, I decided that I really needed to go for a hike. It was sunny, yet quite cool!

The trail head is about 1 mile from my house, and I think I hiked about 3 miles altogether.

This is looking up towards Bogus Ski Resort.

This is looking back towards Boise and Meridian.

I was surprised to see other's out hiking. I saw about 6 hikers and two dogs!

March 3, 2013

I did my volunteering along the Boise River Greenbelt today. It was a clear day, but it was also windy and cool. I started out the day on a bicycle, but by mid-day I switched over to one of the carts because it was just too windy. There were a lot of people out jogging today, and a fair number of folks on bikes, but not near as many as I thought there might be.

This is a shot I took this afternoon:
